Michael Mansfield QC, 93c Venner Road, 14 Tooks Court, Sydenham, Cursitor Street, London SE26 5HU. London EC4A 1LB. 020 8659 7713 E-Mail A_Baron@ABaron.Demon.Co.UK January 18, 2002 Dear Mr Mansfield, I am writing to you as President of the National Civil Rights Movement. With this letter are two enclosures: an article in the form of a three page print out which was downloaded from this organisation's website earlier this week, and the letter I wrote to the NCRM in connection with that article in July of last year. As you will see from the former, the latter was ignored. I don't know how familiar you are with this particular case but this article is a tissue of easily provable lies; it appears to be based uncritically on a press release issued by the Ram campaign. The most vile lie contained herein is that Clarke Pearce refused to be treated by a woman doctor and discharged himself from hospital - with the implication that he rather than Ram was responsible for his death. Elsewhere this claim has been conceded by Ram's campaigners to be false, but they still use it whenever they think they can get away with it, most notably when they duped a number of MPs into signing an Early Day Motion to that effect, tabled by John McDonnell, January 12, 2000. I would ask that you use your influence as President of the NCRM either to remove or amend this article, which the victim's family find deeply offensive. Yours sincerely, A Baron
